Description:

Hebrew 102: Introductory Hebrew, Part 2

  • • This is Part 2 of our four-part Introductory Hebrew course taught over 4 school terms specifically designed for Hebrew learners. Our language and culture courses focus on teaching and learning only, and we do not expect you to study outside of class nor do we usually assign homework (unless you'd like some!). Come and spend 12 class hours per Term (eight 1.5 hour weekly classes) learning Hebrew and about Israeli culture, and have some fun too! All of our language classes are designed for busy people.

  • • Introductory Hebrew 102 classes continue the foundation of our Hebrew 101 course with learning to read and speak Hebrew. During this Term we continue to emphasise reading printed Hebrew (עִבְרִית), while focusing on basic conversation, elementary grammar, and vocabulary.

  • • Subsequent Term courses continue with Introductory Hebrew (i.e. our Hebrew 103 and 104 courses) and continue to include additional reading and comprehension practice, grammar, vocabulary, and conversation. Subsequent courses in this series continue in the same time slot for the duration of the full course.

Meet our Instructor

Hebrew Instructor Shelly Tenembaum

Shalom, my name is Shelly. I was born in Romania, lived in Israel and now I live in Auckland with my family. I am multilingual with a diverse background and a range of skills and experiences. Throughout my life I mastered four languages and am proficient in two more. I worked in various organizations to impart my knowledge of the Hebrew language. Additionally, I established and managed a Hebrew school in Auckland. I continue my involvement in tutoring the Hebrew language and I am passionate for education and commitment to help others learn. In addition to my linguistic pursuits, my background in Chemistry demonstrates scientific expertise and analytical thinking. My experience in the banking industry further highlights the versatility and adaptability in different professional settings. One of my notable passions is baking. As an accomplished baker, I established recently my own business "Baked Goodness." My creations are highly sought after by connoisseurs of Jewish and Eastern European baking, as well as individuals in search of specialty baked goods and designing customised cakes. My dedication to craft and attention to detail are evident in the quality of the baked goods. I have a structured student-centric approach, integrated with my diverse background and skills. These contribute to my success as an educator and a baker. Le’hitraot in the next Hebrew course!
